Cosmetologists

Licensing Requirements

• The applicant is at least 16 years of age;
• The applicant shall have received a 10th grade education or its equivalent;
• Applicant shall graduate from a Board approved school and complete the required hours of instruction;
• The applicant must pass the examination provided by the Board;
• Applicant shall submit the application with the required documentation;
• Applicant shall pay any required fees.

Exam Requirements

• The applicant must graduate from a program of 1,600 hours from a school;
• The applicant shall take and pass a theory and practical examination;
• Upon, passing the applicant shall have paid the required fees.

Continuing Education Requirements

Apprenticeship Programs

License Reciprocity Availability and Requirements

• Must have graduated from a state recognized school;
• Must have taken a board administered written and practical examination
• Must have met the Wyoming required hours for licensure;
• If you have less than our required hours, you will need to prove proof of at least one 1 year work experience in your field;

Instructors

• The applicant must be at least 18 years of age;
• The applicant shall have a high school diploma or its equivalent;
• The applicant shall have a Wyoming license in cosmetology;
• The applicant shall have practiced cosmetology in a salon for at least 50 weeks with no less than 36 hour per week within the last 5 years immediately preceding enrollment;
• The applicant shall complete 500 hours of instructor education instruction;
• No more than 100 hours may be acquired through distance learning;
• The applicant shall submit an application with the required fees to the Board.

Hair Stylists
